March 2020 New PhD student Qiyan Wang has joint the group

  • April 8. A collaborative paper by Ana Fellenberg et al. "Covalent organic frameworks for design of ruthenium catalysts with high single-atom site density for CO2 hydrogenation into formic acid" published in Cell Reports Physical Science presents a strategy that utilizes covalent organic frameworks with diverse structures and chemical compositions to enhance carbon dioxide hydrogenation to formic acid at low temperatures. This enhancement arises from both high density of single-atom ruthenium sites and their intrinsic activity. The work involves extensive operando XANES/EXAFS synchrotron investigation. Link

  • February 8. Yong' collaborative paper "Liquid Metals for Boosting Stability of Zeolite Catalysts in the Conversion of Methanol to Hydrocarbons" has been accepted by Nature Communications. Congratultions to all the authors.!

  • December 13. Congratulations to Ana Katiuce Fellenberg on successfully defending her PhD thesis titled "Nanoconfinement for the Production of Platform Molecules from Carbon Oxides."

  • Octobre 13. A paper by Serge and Massimo "Decisive influence of SAPO-34 zeolite on light olefin selectivity in methanol-meditated CO2 hydrogenation over metal oxide-zeolite catalysts" has been accepted by ACS Catalysis. Read it on-line. Congratulations!

  • August 31. A postdoc position in available in the frame our Multiprobe project founded by French National Research Agency. The goal of the MULTIPROBE project is to develop a new methodology for the in situ and operando characterization of catalysts based on a unique combination of transmission electron microscopy and X-rays techniques, including 3D and environmental TEM, EELS spectroscopy, macro- and micro-scale X-ray absorption spectroscopy, and hyperspectral imaging.  More information about the position is available in the pdf file.

  • July 27th. Qiyan"s and Catarina's paper "Tunable Catalysis by Reversible Switching Between Ru(III) Single Sites and Ru0 Clusters in Solid Micelles" has been accepted by Journal of Catalysis. It is available on-line.

  • June 19th.  Yong's Multiprobe paper "Promotion effects of alkali metals on iron molybdate catalysts for CO2 catalytic hydrogenation" was accepted by Journal of Energy Chemistry.. Read it on-line.

  • June 15th. The UCCS organizes on July 10 and 11, 2023 the third scientific days of the Hall Pilote Catalyse in the amphitheater of the Chevreul building. The opening conference on CO2 recovery will be given by Pr Peter Moser (RWE Power AG) on July 10 at 5 p.m. and followed by a cocktail. The day of July 11 will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will be animated by external speakers and from the UCCS, with the possibility of visiting the Pilot Hall..   • October 11th-12th. TAKE-OFF held its General Assembly. That was one intense but fruitful day of open discussions and exchanges between project partners. On October 12th, TAKE-OFF hosted its first Open Doors Day at its project partner RWE’s power plant in Niederaußem, Germany.  Watch a nice video about this event! Link

  • October 7th. PhD defense of Di HU "Photocatalytic Methane Conversion into Chemicals and Fuels Under Mild Conditions" After a very clear presentation, Di Hu has very well answered the detailed questions of the PhD reviewers and jury members, specialists in material science, physical chemistry, physics, nanosciences, catalysis, photocatalysis,  molecular chemistry, chemical engineering and theoretical chemistry. Congratulations!

  • September 23rd. Defense of Anoop CHAKKINGAL's PhD degree "Tailoring Fischer Tropsch Synthesis Product Selectivities: Insights from Microkinetic Modelling and Machine Learning". Joint PhD diploma of Centrale Lille Institute and University of Ghent.  The PhD thesis was performed in the frame of Psyche FWVL Interreg project.   • May 28th. Anoop's paper Multi-output machine learning models for kinetic data evaluation: A Fischer–Tropsch synthesis case study was published in Chemical Engineering Journal. Link. In this work, multi-output Fischer–Tropsch Synthesis data generated via mechanistic Single-Event MicroKinetic model is analyzed with different machine learning models  such as Lasso, K Nearest Neighbors, Support Vector Regression, and Artificial Neural Network regression. 

  • May 25th.  Dan's paper Surface modification of metallic catalysts for the design of selective processes was accepted by Catalysis Reviews. Link. We give an overview of recent progress in the area of modification of metal nanoparticles with non-metallic promoters and electronic, steric effects and new functionalities imposed by non-metallic promoters in metal catalysts.

  • May 17th. After one year, our TAKE-OFF consortium finally had the chance to organise on May 17th 2022 its first Executive Board Meeting in person in Delft (NL) to track the project's progress and celebrate the achievements accomplished by all project partners. Dank u wel TNO for hosting us in the Netherlands and for giving us the opportunity to visit your lab in Rijswijk specialised in electrochemistry and synthetic fuels. We all look forward to continuing to work together to scale our project’s scopes!

  • April 7th. Join us on 12 May 2022 in Petten, Netherlands, for a deep dive into the pilot scale demonstration of electrochemical production of hydrogen and conversion of CO2, followed by a tour of the SEDMES installation and state of the art Faraday Lab.   • March 23rd. Our group and Laboratory for Chemical Technology in Ghent are pleased to announce the fourth PSYCHE workshop on Fischer-Tropsch synthesis which will be held on June 2 2022 in Lille and via Microsoft Teams.   • September 6th, 2021.  Early this morning, the TAKE-OFF consortium has launched its project's website dedicated to the TAKE-OFF technology, the Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and the potential of Carbon Capture and Utilisation (#CCU) solutions to mitigate climate change.    Our website has primarily been designed to create a showcase of key information and updates on the project and make them available and accessible to different partners and stakeholders. The new website will give easy access to the project’s objectives, the consortium page, news, deliverables, as well as the upcoming events organised by the TAKE-OFF consortium and partner organisations.. The consortium, led by TNO, gathers partners from the entire technology chain including RWE, Mitsubishi Power Europe, CNRS - Centre national de la recherche scientifique, RWTH Aachen University, Syddansk Universitet - University of Southern Denmark, Asahi Kasei Europe GmbH, and FEV Europe GmbH. SkyNRG is involved to analyse the fuel quality and report on its suitability for usage in aircraft. CO2 Value Europe is in charge of the Communication, Dissemination & Exploitation activities of the project. Have a look at our new website at www.takeoff-project.eu.
